# Slashing Mechanics for Creators

When content is flagged as potentially misleading, it enters ViewFT's Three-Layer Verification system. If found to be inaccurate, both ViewCred and staked tokens can be slashed.

## The Three-Layer System

| Layer | Weight | Who | Speed |
| -------------- | ------ | --------------------------------------------------- | ----------- |
| AI Fact-Check | 30% | Automated cross-referencing against trusted sources | Seconds |
| The Senate | 30% | Elected editorial board of high-ViewCred members | Hours |
| Community Vote | 40% | ViewCred-weighted community voting | 24-72 hours |

A weighted score above 50% results in the content being marked as misleading and slashing applied.

## What Gets Slashed

**ViewCred Score** — always slashed for misleading content (see [ViewCred Slashing](/viewcred/slashing) for severity table)

**Staked Tokens** — if the creator staked \$VIEW tokens on the content:

* Minor inaccuracy (score 50-65%): 25% of stake forfeited
* Significant misinformation (score 65-80%): 50% of stake forfeited
* Deliberate fabrication (score 80%+): 100% of stake forfeited

## Where Slashed Tokens Go

Forfeited stakes are distributed:

* 50% to the viewers who correctly flagged the content
* 30% to the protocol treasury
* 20% burned (reducing \$VIEW supply)

This creates a direct financial incentive for the community to identify misinformation accurately.

## False Flagging Protection

To prevent abuse of the flagging system:

* Flaggers who repeatedly flag content that passes verification lose ViewCred
* A minimum ViewCred threshold is required to initiate flags
* Coordinated flagging campaigns are detected and penalized
