# Earning ViewCred

ViewCred is earned through consistent, positive contributions to the ViewFT ecosystem. There are no shortcuts — only sustained quality.

## Actions That Build ViewCred

### For Creators

* **Publishing original content** that receives positive engagement (+2-5 ViewCred per quality post)
* **Content accuracy** — articles that pass through verification without disputes (+3 ViewCred bonus)
* **Consistent publishing cadence** — regular contributors earn a streak bonus (+1 ViewCred/week for active weeks)
* **Community citations** — when other creators reference your work as a source (+2 ViewCred per citation)

### For Viewers

* **Accurate flagging** — flagging content that is later confirmed misleading (+3 ViewCred per confirmed flag)
* **Quality comments** — thoughtful engagement that adds value to discussions (+1 ViewCred per upvoted comment)
* **Successful referrals** — bringing new contributors who maintain good standing (+2 ViewCred per active referral)
* **Curation accuracy** — sharing content that proves accurate and valuable (+1 ViewCred per quality share)

## ViewCred Decay

ViewCred decays slowly if you're inactive — this prevents abandoned accounts from holding permanent authority.

* **Active users:** No decay
* **Inactive 30+ days:** -1 ViewCred per week
* **Inactive 90+ days:** -3 ViewCred per week

This encourages ongoing participation while being forgiving of short breaks.

## Time to Build

Reaching each tier requires sustained effort:

These timelines cannot be accelerated with money. This is by design.

Sarah publishes 3 well-sourced articles per week about DeFi markets. After 3 months of consistent, accurate reporting, her ViewCred reaches Contributor level (200+). Her articles now reach 2x the audience of a New-level creator. One of her articles is cited by 5 other creators, earning her +10 additional ViewCred from citations.

**Example 2: The Sharp-Eyed Curator**
James doesn't write articles — he reads and curates. He flags a viral post about a fake partnership announcement. The Three-Layer Verification confirms the content is fabricated. James earns +5 View Points and +3 ViewCred for the accurate flag. Over 6 months of consistent, accurate curation, his ViewCred reaches Trusted Voice level — purely from viewing and moderating, never publishing.

**Example 3: The Fallen Authority**
Alex built a ViewCred of 650 (Authority tier) over 14 months of quality journalism. Under pressure to break a story first, Alex publishes unverified acquisition rumors that turn out to be false. The Three-Layer Verification triggers, and Alex loses -120 ViewCred (Authority-level penalty). It takes Alex 4+ months of consistent quality work to recover. The lesson: higher ViewCred means higher responsibility.

## What Doesn't Build ViewCred

To be clear, these actions do NOT increase your ViewCred:

* Posting frequently without quality (quantity ≠ credibility)
* Getting high engagement on sensational but unverified content
* Purchasing or staking \$VIEW tokens
* Having many followers or referrals (popularity ≠ credibility)
* Gaming the system with multiple accounts (detected and penalized)
