# What is ViewCred?

ViewCred is ViewFT's core credibility score, inspired by the classical Greek concept of *Ethos* — trust built through demonstrated character — ViewCred is ViewFT's implementation of earned credibility.

## The Credit Score for Content

Think of ViewCred like a credit score — but for information credibility:

* **You can't buy it** — No amount of money or \$VIEW tokens can purchase ViewCred
* **You can't transfer it** — ViewCred is bound to your identity and cannot be traded
* **You earn it slowly** — Consistent, truthful, quality contributions build your score over time
* **You can lose it quickly** — Creating or distributing misleading content triggers ViewCred slashing

## Why ViewCred Matters

Most platforms let you buy visibility through ads or token holdings. ViewFT is different. The algorithm recommends content from high-ViewCred creators because they've **proven** their credibility through behavior, not purchased it with capital.

This creates a fundamentally fairer information ecosystem where new voices can rise based on the quality of their contributions, and established voices must maintain their standards or lose their reach.

## ViewCred Score Range
